As sturdy and well-proportioned as its full-size cousins, this child's rocking chair project is perfect for reading, watching a movie or even the occasional time out. And it makes a wonderful gift for any child (or grandchild). The chair measures 25 inches tall at the back, and the rockers are 21 inches long. The seat is 15 inches wide and sits 11 inches off the floor. Designed with safety in mind, the project has no sharp points and all the edges are rounded and smooth. The rocking chair is built from just eight board feet of oak (other woods will work) and a few oak dowels, and all the pieces are traced from full-size patterns. The most challenging part is shaping the recessed area in the seat, but with a little patience it's easy to get great results. To build, simply trace the parts onto wood, cut everything out and sand. Next, assemble using dowels and glue. Finally, apply your finish of choice. About U-Bild plans: U-Bild plans are ideal for woodworkers and do-it-yourselfers of all skill levels. Unique trace, saw and assemble designs feature simple-to-follow patterns (like sewing patterns) that produce professional-looking results.
